Information from Our
November 7, 2008 Meeting
The theme of our November meeting, the final one of 2008, was the IT Service Catalog and the ITIL® v3 Service Catalog Management process.
Traveling from the Texas State capitol to be with us was our keynote speaker, Michele Bonner. Michele is with Austin Energy, the country's 9th largest public power utility. Her presentation included a case study detailing the steps Austin Energy took to deploy its Service Catalog, as well as their plans to develop it further.
Following the keynote presentation was an extended-format, expert panel discussion. Panelists included Michele, Phil Kuehler of newScale, and Gary Davis and Thomas Evans of BMC.

Join Us August 21 for a
Complimentary Event in West Houston
Join itSMF Houston on August 21 with a special guest speaker, panel discussion, a complimentary lunch including optional "Birds of a Feather" roundtables, and informal networking among your Houston IT peers. Free of charge but reservations required, the meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the conveniently-located BMC building near Westheimer and the West Beltway.
The theme of the meeting is the Service Transition processes of Change and Release & Deploy, control processes that many believe are the foundation of a high-performing IT organization.
Our keynote speaker is Haskell Moore, the Release Manager for BP's Information Technology and Services (IT&S). Joining Haskell for a Q&A panel discussion following the keynote will be Lynette Dale, Change Management Program Manager for CHRISTUS Health, and Randal Locke of CA, a well-known ITSM consultant and author.
We will have a continental breakfast waiting for you shortly after 8:00 a.m., and the first presentation will begin at 9:00. The panel discussion will follow the keynote, and then lunch will be provided after 11:30. During lunch we will break into two or three groups--each with a different topic area--for moderated but casual conversation. Lunchtime is open-ended and informal, so it also provides an excellent opportunity to meet new Houston ITSM professionals, and to network with those you already know.
The seating is comfortable, but space is limited so reservations are required.
