Location
BMC Software, an itSMF USA platinum sponsor, is allowing us to hold this meeting in Building 1 of their campus conveniently located in the Westchase area of Houston, near the corner of Westheimer and the Beltway. Click here for a detailed map to Guest Entrance 1 at BMC. The street address is:
2101 City West Blvd
Houston, TX 77042-2829
Traveling either northbound or southbound on the West Sam Houston Parkway, exit at Westheimer and turn west onto Westheimer, staying in the right-most lane. The second turn to the right is CityWest Boulevard. Go north on Citywest for three tenths of a mile; the road will curve to the left and start to curve back to the right. Watch for a large driveway and guard station to the right. It will be labeled "Visitors Entrance." Have your driver license ready and check in with the guard. He will direct you to the visitor parking on Level 2. On Level 2 you will see double-wide, glass, automatic doors. Through these doors, down the hall to the right, and in the large, open area is the receptionist station where you will check in and receive a visitor's badge. The receptionist will give you simple directions to the BMC Business School rooms where we are meeting.

San Francisco in September
The end of summer is the best time to visit the City by the Bay. And don't forget Fusion 08!
The 8th annual itSMF USA conference and expo begins September 7 and is expected to be the largest yet, attracting more than 2,000 attendees to San Francisco, California. During the event, industry experts will present key insights on ITSM best practices, innovative new strategies, and real world results. Register soon, time is running out.
ISO in the News
On July 14, itSMF USA approved its first Special Interest Group (SIG) focused on IT standards and compliance. The objective of the new ISO/IEC 20000 Special Interest Group is to increase the visibility of the benefits achieved through the ISO/IEC 20000 standard and certification, enabling those seeking adoption of ISO/IEC 20000 a knowledgeable roadmap. Their role will be to serve, without geographic boundaries, as an advisory and expert panel for knowledge transfer to, and collaboration on, implementation and support of the ISO/IEC 20000 standard.
The SIG is planning its first Webinar in August, featuring David Cannon, HP's Senior Vice President of IT Service Management. Our next mailing in August will contain more information about the new SIG, and about how you can participate.
Couldn't Make It to Austin?
If you weren't able to join us last May 20 for the first-ever itSMF Expo, we have good news! The presentations--and even some collateral material--are online and available for download.
Use this link to visit the itSMF USA Texas Expo 2008 Website, and you will have access to all the presentations, including David Cannon's keynote address and the presentations by our own Houston LIG officers, Priscilla Milam, Jim Berry, and Reginald Best.
"Depending on your service delivery model and maturity, certain processes will naturally take precedence. Managing change, however, should be reviewed sooner rather than later since it is pivotal to driving continual service improvement. If left unchecked, it will bite you later--just ask your compliance auditors."
--Brian Johnson
